This two day, 16 hour course has been designed to provide patrol officers, investigators, and other police personnel with effective defensive tactics skills. This program will provide students with instruction on a usable system for categorizing resistance offered by suspects. Once officers have been able to categorize that resistance, they are better able to respond in legally appropriate ways. This program provides the technical skills and knowledge that are important to the success of patrol officers and investigators. At the end of this program, students will be able to do the following: • Perform pressure point control techniques, • Perform joint manipulation techniques, • Perform handcuffing techniques from standing, kneeling, and take-down positions, • Utilize proper stances when performing these techniques, and • Apply effective responses to violent attacks.
