Officers completing this program will be certified as Illinois Breath Analysis Operators by the Illinois State Police. The curriculum was designed by the Illinois State Police and has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board. Each student will complete a prescribed course of study and perform a series of breath analyses prior to completing a written examination and achieving licensing by the State of Illinois. This program will cover the following topics: - Detecting the drinking driver - Illinois Administrative Rules for Breath Alcohol Testing - Theory of Infrared and Fuel Cell (EC/IR) Units - The Revised Alcohol Influence Report form - Physiology and pharmacology of alcohol - Case law in Illinois affecting DUI enforcement - An examination for certification conducted by the State of Illinois
