This one day, 8 hour course has been designed to provide basic ground fighting maneuvers and counter-maneuvers for law enforcement officers regarding the mount control position. COURSE OVERVIEW: The 8 hour course is part of the Ground Fighting and Control Tactics Series. Officers will learn to escape, control, apply joint locks, and handcuff offenders in the mount position through the principles of body positioning and leverage. In today's culture, increasing awareness of mixed martial arts techniques are having a direct impact upon what officers are likely to face during ground altercations. It is known that 90% of fights go to the ground and officers must be prepared for resistive persons who wish to assault them with these techniques. This one day course will introduce Officers to the mount control position, and teach them simple and effective ground fighting counter maneuvers with regard to size and strength, including: · Controlling positions · Striking positions · Submission moves · Weapon retention · Handcuffing skills · Escapes The instructors for this program are Sergeant John Hutson (Des Plaines Police Department) and Sergeant Dan Meshenky (South Elgin Police Department) . Both instructors hold advanced ranking in Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a discipline that has greatly impacted martial arts training since the early 1990's. PLEASE NOTE: Students are required to wear workout clothing and should bring their duty belts to class. The GFCT series consists of nine end user classes and two instructor level courses. The instructor team recommends attending all end user classes before attending instructor level training. To optimize the learning process, it is highly recommended to attend the classes according to the following tier system: Tier 1: GFCT (16 Hour) The Guard Position Tier 2: GFCT: Takedowns and Escorts GFCT: Escaping Neck Restraints GFCT: Escaping Grips and Grabs Tier 3: GFCT: The Mount Position GFCT: The Side Control Position GFCT: The Back Control Position Tier 4: GFCT: Sweeps and Reversals GFCT: Vehicle Extractions and Team Tactics GFCT: Instructor Development GFCT: Instructor Apprenticeship This class has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
